A conference of the highest level enlivened the new appointment of the rich concert-musicological program dedicated to the 500th anniversary of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, promoted by the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, chaired by Rector Fr. Robert Mehlhart.

The event, held on March 7 at the Aula Refice, was attended by such internationally renowned scholars as Giancarlo Rostirolla of the Palestrina Foundation, Claudia Montuschi of the Vatican Library, Laurence Wuidar of the Dominican Philosophical Studio in Bologna, Lisandro Abadie of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Christian Leitmeir of Oxford University and Marcos Pavan of the Sistine Chapel.

Together with PIMS Rector Fr. Robert Mehlhart, the speakers explored, in a series of talks as dense and varied as they were usable, the figure, repertoire and influence of a musician who, five centuries later, continues to represent an inexhaustible source of historical testimony, a reference for creative-interpretive practice and a timeless model of artistic and spiritual inspiration.
