academic
On Wednesday, 22 October, at the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, priests Don Maxime Dogbo (Ivory Coast) and Don Kolawole Stephen Oluseun (Nigeria) discussed their Licentiate theses in Musicology, in the presence of the commission and Archbishop Gabriel 'Leke Abegunrin.
Both were supervised by Prof. Nicola Tangari, who acted as their thesis advisor.
Don Maxime presented his thesis entitled "A model of organisation and practice of liturgical singing for the choirs of the Archdiocese of Abidjan", while Don Kolawole discussed "Ethnomusicological study of sacred liturgical music in the diocese of Òṣogbo: interpretation of the intent of Article 4 of Musicam Sacram".
The two works explore the link between music, liturgy and culture, offering proposals for enhancing sacred music in their respective dioceses.
