Palestrina500 Masterclass and Concert with Elam Rotem

On Friday 14 March, the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music hosted a prestigious masterclass held by Dr. Elam Rotem, renowned performer and scholar of early music. The meeting was an important opportunity to learn more about the notation and interpretation of Renaissance music, with a special focus on historical performance practices.
Among the topics covered during the day: musica ficta, cadenzas, mensural notation and analysis of pieces in original notation from the works of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina and other authors of vocal polyphony
The masterclass concluded in the Abbey Church of the PIMS with a recital, in which the participants put into practice the knowledge acquired during the day.
Present were the Rector Fr. Robert Mehlhart OP and numerous students, who followed this important moment of musical training with great interest and participation.
