Unveiling of the Plaque dedicated Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina

On November 22, 2025, the day on which the Church celebrates Saint Cecilia, patron saint of music, on the occasion of the fifth centenary of the birth of Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, His Eminence Cardinal José Tolentino de Mendonça, Prefect of the Dicastery for Culture and Education and Grand Chancellor of the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, inaugurated the plaque dedicated to the famous musician, located on the facade of Palazzo San Carlo, in Vatican City.
The event, promoted and organized by the Pontifical Institute of Sacred Music, was introduced by the Rector, Fr. Robert Mehlhart, OP, and made even more solemn by the performance of the motet Sicut Cervus by the Institute's Polyphonic Choir, conducted by Maestro Walter Marzilli.
